108 ambulance service supplements healthcare of Shri Amaranth Ji yatra pilgrims

JAMMU, July 30: 108/102 Jammu & Kashmir Medical Emergency Ambulances Services has again proved as a strong pillar in strengthening the health system in the U.T of J&K. After a gap of almost 2 years the Amaranth Ji Yatra was commenced and special deployment of 108 Emergency Ambulance Services was made to cater to any kind of Medical Emergency during the Yatra.
During the period from 28th June'2022 to 29th July'2022 the Emergency Medical Services 108 Ambulance Network served a total of 533 Amaranth Pilgrims' with various Medical Emergencies. Out of the total Emergencies served 402 were medical emergencies, 43 trauma/accident cases due to the difficult trekking, 8 vehicular roadside accident victims, even 8 pregnancy related cases, 2 gastrointestinal cases, 5 wild animal bite cases and 65 were other types of emergencies which were provided the quality pre hospital care and shifted to the secondary and tertiary care facilities by 108 ALS & BLS ambulances thereby saving the precious lives.
BVG India had stationed a total of 13 dedicated Advance Life Support/Basic Life Support ambulances at Baltal, Chandanwari and Pahalgam base hospitals with Medical Professionals after instructions from the Health Department, J&K. Also 5 doctors were specially deputed by BVG India Ltd to assist and support the health department in providing medical aid to the pilgrims if required. In total the doctors' station at various medical aid centers has served a total of 10636 patients till date.
It has provided medical services and evacuation to secondary and tertiary care centers for pilgrims during the yatra. In addition to attending hypoxia related problems due to high altitude, EMS Ambulance network being operated by BVG India Ltd has provided excellent support to the success of Amaranth Ji Yatra this year.
BVG India has been serving J&K and Ladakh for last 2.5 years thereby saving lives with the pre hospital care and also shifting patients from home/accident locations as well as hospital to hospital referral with EMT care in the ambulance with ERCP advice, thereby facilitating medical safety while in transit. BVG ambulance service was an asset in shifting cloudburst victims. Till date a total of 143632 patients have been served by 108 ambulances.
