Shiv Sena rues over melting of Shivling at holy Cave Shrine
7/30/2022 10:40:05 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 30: Shiv Sena J&K unit expressed resentment against the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for not making any severe effort to maintain the holy Shivling for the duration of the Yatra, thus hurting the religious sentiments of devotees. The Party held solely Shree Amarnath Shrine Board responsible for the premature melting of the Ice-Lingam at the Holy Cave Shrine, seeking fixing of accountability.
This was stated by Manish Sahni, President J&K Shiv Sena while talking to reporters here today.
In this context, scores of Shiv Sena activists under the leadership of Manish Sahni staged protest against the government as well as Shrine Board near Party's Central Office in Jammu.
Sahni said that there was a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees of Bhole Baba from all over the country for the Amarnath Yatra, which started after a long gap of three years, in just three weeks the figure of the Yatra had crossed two lakhs. The cloudburst near the holy cave on July 8, in which 15 pilgrims were killed and then in less than a month, saw a huge decline in the yatra and desolation among devotees after spreading of news about disappearance of Baba Barfani's.
Sahni said that no effort was made to maintain the temperature of holy Cave Shrine. The journey of thousands of pilgrims has been reduced to hundreds due to the melting of the sacred Himling. This has dealt a big blow to the hopes of hotels, taxis and other businessmen associated with the tourism business of the state. Even the people associated with the Langars are very disappointed, he added.
Sahni said that the government and the Shrine Board has ignored the recommendations of Nitish Sen Committee regarding the holy Amarnath Yatra, the safety of the route and no effort being made to save the Holy Shivling at Cave Shrine from climate change, terming it as very unfortunate.
Sahni urged the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, who is also the Chairman of the Amarnath Shrine Board, to fix the accountability on the present situation and take appropriate steps to ensure that this does not happen in near future.
