Bone & Joint week celebrations held

JAMMU, Aug 1:
Every year 4th of August is celebrated as National Bone & Joint Day. To commemorate this day week long activities are planned by Indian Orthopaedic Association for the benefit of the general public. The Bone & Joint Week Celebration was inaugurated at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu today. To mark the inauguration, a Yoga & Meditation session was held in which the faculty members, MBBS/ Postgraduate Students and other staff members were given a live demonstration of Yoga and the importance of meditation in day to day life of an individual especially in todays stressful life. D.K. Batra, Secretary, ASCOMS was the Chief Guest on the occasion and he also inaugurated the week long celebrations. Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta, Prof & Head Paediatrics Deptt. performed the Yoga which was appreciated by one and all. He demonstrated various Asanas and described the scientific rationale behind every Asana. Dr. K.S.Mehta, Acting Director Principal appreciated the efforts of Dr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Prof & Head Orthopaedics Deptt. ASCOMS and President J&K Orthopaedic Association for taking such an initiative and associating ASCOMS with this national event. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta Prof & Head department of Orthopaedics, while delivering the Vote of Thanks, expressed his gratitude to all the faculty members, students and staff for their active participation in the event. He also expressed his gratitude to all staff members of his Department who were actively involved in organizing the event. After the inauguration and Yoga session, a Walkathon was also held from the College Auditorium to National Highway and back to make the general public aware about the Bone & Joint Health. He also thanked the Management of ASCOMS who provided all logistic support for organizing the event under the Banner of Indian Orthopaedic Association.
