Thieves on looting spree at Chirag Colony
'Steal taps, showers, electric wires, switches and transformers'

JAMMU, Aug 1: Sense of insecurity has gripped residents of Chirag Colony in Bhatindi area here as the thieves are on a looting spree.
According to the residents a gang of thieves is on prowl in the area and they barge into the houses between 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. "Whichever house they find locked they enter into it and steal taps, electric wires, switches, showers, transformers and other costly things," residents told Early Times.
They said that in the past two days nearly eight to nine theft incidents have taken place. "We have approached the Police and have registered a complaint ," residents added.
They said that the sense of insecurity has gripped Chirag Colony. "We are living in fear and are feeling insecure even within our homes. The working couples usually leave for work in the morning and lock their houses but the recent theft incidents have terrified them," they added. Residents urged the top Police officials to intervene and set up a special team to nab the thieves.
