Ahead of I-Day, Indian Army tank graces Jammu- Srinagar National Highway
8/8/2022 11:29:03 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 8: The Indian Army has showcased its tank on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway here with the spot becoming a new attraction for the road users who feel proud of the nation, which is set to celebrate is 75th Independence Day.
The Indian Army has installed a tank at a park on the highway in Parimpora locality of Srinagar. The tank, which has been installed on a raised platform stands distinct on the highway with many stopping at the spot to take pictures.
It’s the such second tank being showcased on the main road in Srinagar.
The previous one, stands tall on the Batawara national highway outside the military garrison in the area.
But as of now, as the national highway snaking down the PanthaChowk-Parimpora stretch of Srinagar is even busier, a tank has been showcased en route, here as well.
The beautification of the small park where the tank has been installed is underway. As per the sources in the administration, the efforts were on to dedicate the new landmark to the nation on the Independence Day.
The highway not only connects with the frontier districts of north Kashmir but also with the famed tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Tangmarg.
“Many locals and tourists keep coming to the spot to see the new iron beauty installed in the area,” said a local.
The winds of change have been blowing in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of the so called special status as more and more people have been showing their love and affection towards the nation.
Recently for the first in the since the Kargil war, Kashmir celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas like never before to mark the defeat of Pakistan in the cold mountains in 1999.
Unlike the last three decades of terrorism in the valley, Kashmiri children and youth now not only participate in activities of national integration but feel genuinely proud to hold tricolor close to their heart. On August 5, schoolchildren across Kashmir held Tiranga Rallies.
As per the observers, the tank showcased near Parimpora will only add to the nationalist sentiment in Kashmir. “Tank showcases our military might and one feels jubilant to look at this power, so it will definitely be a booster of nationalist sentiment especially among the young,” said an observer.
