JAMMU, Aug 9: An impressive procession of Ashura was taken out in the old city from Ziyarat Peer Mitha under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu. Thousands of mourners from across the different regions of JK UT participated to pay homage to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s) grandson of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (Pbuh).
A brief Majlis was delivered by by Moulana Syed Ghulam Hussain Rizvi from Iran Cultural House. In his address he stressed upon the teachings of Imam Hussain (a.s) and why it is important to follow the path of Karbala. After passing through the traditional route the procession culminated at Karbala complex Wazarat road where majlis Sham-e-Ghariban was also delivered by Moulana Syed Ghulam Hussain Rizvi.
A procession was also taken out from New Plots by Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plot under the patronage of Shakeel Karbalai and merged with the main procession at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha. On this day Imam Hussain (a.s) and his 72 companions laid their lives and saved humanity and the values of Islam, battling against the tyranny of Yazid, the ruler and Caliph of Muslim Ummah at that time.
Addressing media President of Anjumam-e-Imamia, Jammu Syed Amanat Shah said that it is our duty to spread the message of Imam Hussain (a.s) that we should never bow down in front of the oppressor and always stand firm against the tyrant. He said that Ashura gives a message to entire humanity that we should stand firm against the oppressor and never forego our responsibilities even though we need to sacrifice our self for the cause.
Prof Sujat Khan, Secretary Anjumam-e-Imamia, Jammu while speaking to media said that KARBALA was not a battle between individuals but ideologies. He said that Rebar-e-Moazam Syed Ali Khamaenei quoted that "If we understand this event (Ashura) to be a great event in History, and we place value upon it, this is because the rememberance of this event helps us to progress, to move forward, to follow the pointed path of Imam Hussain (a.s.)".
