Ahead of Independence Day, JK on high alert, aerial surveillance intensified

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 13: Amid a sudden spike in terror attacks in the last four odd days, the security grid in Jammu and Kashmir has been put on high alert with the aerial surveillance even beefed up with hitech drones put up in the air.
Official sources said the security grid has been put on high alert following inputs that the Pakistani handlers of the terrorists were conspiring for a spike in terror strikes ahead of the Independence Day “only to keep the pot boiling.”
At least three terror strikes took place across Jammu and Kashmir in the last around three days. Whereas in one of the attacks, believed to be a suicidal bid on August 11, two terrorists were shot dead and three Army jawans lost their lives in a midnight attack in Rajauri district of Jammu, in Bandipora district on August 12, a non local was killed by suspected terrorists. In another attack on August 13, terrorists fired indiscriminately upon police personnel in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag, injuring a policeman.
Sources said the drone surveillance in particular has been intensified across the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar in particular and major towns across the Union Territory.
The sources said apart from the quadcopter drones being used by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in particular, the even hitech drone aircrafts are being used by the Indian Army for keeping eye on the situation.
“In Jammu city almost every police station has put drones up in the air for round the clock surveillance from control rooms,” said the sources.
The sources said the security grid is working in coordination between the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army and the central paramilitary forces on duty.
It’s pertinent to mention that the recent success of Har Ghar Tiranga in Jammu and Kashmir has left Pakistan even frustrated. In Kashmir from Lal Chowk to Dal Lake to rivers and mountains, the Tiranga events are being held almost everywhere.
The people of Kashmir in particular have been showing their love and affection for the nation and this has left the enemy country even irritated.
