Construction workers demand release of Scholarships for year 2021-22

JAMMU, Aug 16: Today around 350 construction labourers belonging to Sub Division Khour led by Devinder Singh Social Activist held their meeting at Khour where they discussed their genuine issues. All of them were demanding release of scholarships by the J & K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board for the year 2021-22.
Devinder Singh along with the deputation of these workers called on Tehsildar Khour regarding their issue and apprised her about the genuine problem of the gathered construction workers. Monika Sharma Tehsildar Khour gave patient hearing to the workers and immediately discussed the matter with the Assistant Labour Commissioner Jammu who informed that due to some reasons there was delay in release but now their amount for scholarship has been released by the government and soon that will be transferred to the beneficiaries.
While addressing to the media persons Devinder Singh said that these construction workers were facing hardships as the department failed to release their scholarships on time because of which they gathered at Khour today and have submitted a written representation along with the list of labourers to the Tehsildar Khour. He said that they are assured by Tehsildar that their scholarship will be released soon but if the JKBOCWWB failed to do so within fifteen days all the labourers will start agitation and will protest in Khour.
Those present during the occasion are Ramesh Lal, Ashok Kumar, Dilawar Singh, Harbans Lal, Om Prakash, Bishan Singh, Ram Lal, Kewal Krishan, Angrez Singh, Janak Raj etc.
