8/20/2022 10:33:18 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 20: Police cracked the Budgam grenade blast case and arrested two "hybrid" militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Police on Saturday said during the late evening hours of August 15, a grenade lobbing incident was reported at Gopalpora Chadoora in which Krishna Kumar received injuries. The injured was shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.
Police later lodged an FIR under relevant sections of law and started an investigation.
"During the course of the investigation, CCTV footage was collected which revealed that two scooty-borne suspects are involved in the incident. Many suspects were picked up for questioning. During further investigation, police received information that Sahil Ahmad Wani of Tangnar Kralpopra Chadoora is involved in the incident. The individual was arrested and during questioning, he admitted to the crime. He said he along with main conspirator and hybrid terrorist Altaf Farooq alias Amir, son of Tangnar Kralpora, were involved in the commission of the crime," police said.
Accordingly, a raid was conducted and the main conspirator was arrested. "Posters of terrorist organization TRF along with some incriminating material and one hand grenade were recovered. The scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Altaf Farooq has also been found involved in the illegal transfer of money from Lashkar-e-Toiba," the police said.
Police said the investigation of the case is at its earlier stage and more arrests and recoveries are expected. "The grenade was thrown at the behest of the directions of Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists (TRF) to create the atmosphere of fear among the society," the police added.
