Make public developmental plans: Raman Suri asks H&UDD
"Housing colonies need special attention"
8/20/2022 10:34:20 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said that the Departments under Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) responsible for construction of colonies as well as flatted accommodations must make public the future developmental plans, especially in the wake of Metro line coming up in Jammu and other road widening projects that are in the pipeline. This is because people are required to get their building permission cases approved for residential as well as commercial projects accordingly.
Raman Suri said, the Building Operations and Controlling Authority (BOCA) responsible for approving plans must also let people know if their properties are falling in the line of metro stations or lines or are required to be taken over by the government. He said, today the cases that are being approved won't sustain their validity if a new proposal comes in the way. As such the department must make public all relevant documents, site plans, proposed metro stations and even metro lines so that people can plan the future prospects of their properties accordingly.
Raman Suri said that the agencies like Jammu Development Authority (JDA), J&K Housing Board and Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) have not come up with any new colony since ages and that is affecting the prices of properties badly. People, he added, are in dire need of homes in all categories but inordinate delay is causing escalation of property prices. Now that the Board of Directors of JDA or J&K HB have approved some companies on new ring road, work on the same must be started on war footing.
In addition, the existing colonies need special attention where roads and drains are in dilapidated condition. He added that many housing colonies are without any gates due to which unregulated flow of vendors and unscrupulous elements continues unabated. The government must protect all housing colonies by installing gates on all exits and entrances. This will regulate the movement and keep a check on the system while ensuring safety of residents.
Raman Suri also expressed his concern over inordinate delays being caused in transfer cases of plots, adding that despite services made online, common people are continuing to suffer a lot. He said that procedures of transfers must be made public and given wide publicity in newspapers so that no one harasses common people. He also demanded completion of sewerage lines in old Jammu City that have been abandoned by the agency concerned.
