| Babar Qadri murder case: Police raid residences of 3 prominent lawyers in Srinagar | | |

Srinagar, Aug 24: Residences of three prominent lawyers are being searched in Srinagar in connection with further investigation of murder of Advocate Babar Qadri, who was shot dead in 2020.
The houses being searched include that of former Kashmir High Court Bar Association president Mian Qayoom. Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar said Srinagar police are conducting searches at the residence of Advocate Miyan Qayoom, Advocate Manzoor Dar and Advocate Muzzaffar Mohammad. The searches are being conducted in connection with further investigation of murder of Adv Babar Qadri, he said. Qadri,a lawyer-activist who was a regular on TV debates, was shot dead by militants at his home in Hawal area in old Srinagar on September 24, 2020. Police had constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the murder. Police later said the conspiracy to kill Kashmiri lawyer Qadri was hatched in Central Jail Srinagar as names of two militants detained in the jail surfaced during the investigations. |
