DMO seizes 1250 MT Sand, 3000 MT stocked Sand restored in Bajalta area

JAMMU, Sept 2: The Geology and Mining Department teams on Friday raided different locations at Sidhra, Chalni, Sardhan and Anthem areas, early in the morning and seized 1250 MT illegally stocked/dumped Sand.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa, District Mineral Officer, Dr. Gulshan Kumar along with staff members and Chowki Officer Sidhra conducted the raids in the wee hours
The DMO informed that the office of Deputy Commissioner Jammu and DMO office received complaints regarding illegal stocking of minor minerals in the area. "Acting against the violators the operation was conducted and 250 MT of Sand was seized and 1000 MT was restored to Chelni Nallah with the help of JCB " he added.
In another raid, the DMO Jammu along with a team of Geology and Mining and police, visited Sardan and Athem area and seized 1000 MT of Sand and restored 2000MT of Sand in nearby Nallah with the help of an excavator.
The custody of 1250 MT seized material was handed over to Chowki officer Sidra and general public was advised not to lift the same otherwise strict action shall be taken against the violators.
The DMO also advised the general public and transporters to transport the minor minerals with valid challan/Form A and not to visit khad for illegal mining otherwise strict action would be taken against the violators. He said that the drive against illegal mining will continue in future also to curb the menace.
