Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 2: The Congress party on Friday held a Joint Meeting of DCC Jammu Urban & Rural at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu, regarding "Mehngai Pe Halla Bol Rally" to be held on 4th September at Ram Leela Ground, New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani and Working President Raman Bhalla. Senior Congress leaders including Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney Incharge District President Jammu (Urban), Kanta Bhat, Manmohan Singh, Rajnish Sharma, Hari Singh Chib President DCC Jammu Rural and heads of frontal organizations which includes Smt. Indu Pawar(Mahila Congress) Uday Bhanu Chib(PYC), Karan Bhagat (SC), Ch. Hussain Ali Bhafa(ST) Gurdarshan Singh (Minority), Pawan Raina, Rajveer Singh, Satish Sharma, Pranav Shagotra and others attended the meeting. President Vikar Rasool Wani invited the leaders to participate in the rally to be held in Delhi over the issue of excessive inflation on 4th of September. The DCC Jammu Urban and Rural members also welcomed the new PCC President and Working President and committed to their long-term association with the Congress party, stating that they would continue to work to strengthen the party.
PCC President Vikar Rasool Wani speaking at the meeting, highlighted the strategic measures which will be adopted by Congress in J&K to create awareness of BJP's draconian policies towards J&K since the formation of BJP Govt at the centre. He said that the new land laws remove the last strand of protection that was available for the UT and hands over the future of lakhs of residents to uncertainty. Many people had trusted the BJP government at the Centre but it's exploitative and unthought decisions have made the public reluctant and doubtful of their intentions. This was a huge betrayal by the government to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people are unhappy with this government's decisions which pull the curtain from their false promises and lies that were made after the statehood was snatched away, he added.
JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla highlighted the failures of the BJP government and said that unlike other states in India, J&K now lacks the protection and autonomy that can be provided by a state government. Its exclusive rights were ruthlessly taken away with its statehood. He also remarked that BJP's policies in J&K are bound to create more unemployment shortly as their effects play out one by one. Curative measures need to be taken for which the first step should be creating more awareness among the people. He said due to wrong policies of BJP Govt, apart from an economic slowdown, J&K has witnessed the loss of dignity and identity. Dogra culture, too, has been harmed and even, ruined by the government. However, the common man is now becoming relatively more aware of these injustices done in the name of progressive laws and stands firmly against the BJP, he said.Bhalla stated that the situation of J&K is hopeless and chaotic under the BJP. He said "Government had promised that the people of Jammu will not be disappointed after J&K was turned into a union territory. However, people have only faced disappointment since then. The new land laws are an attack on the unique identity of J&K which needs to be protected at all costs."
