Div Com reviews Lumpy Skin disease control measures

JAMMU, Sept 3: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to review the measures taken by the District Administrations to control the Lumpy Skin Disease among dairy animals, besides promotion of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
The meeting was attended by Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Assistant Commissioners, while the Deputy Commissioners along with Chief Animal Husbandry officers and other concerned officials participated through video conferencing. Threadbare discussions were held on the status of LSD and measures taken so far for its containment. The Div Com emphasized upon the Deputy Commissioners and concerned officers to generate mass awareness regarding precautions and treatment of the infectious disease. The Div Com enquired about the status of the action taken with respect to vaccination, ban on movement of animals, fogging, awareness, disposal of dead animals etc.
While reviewing the Lumpy Skin Disease treatment facilities available, the Div Com instructed Director Animal Husbandry to ensure availability of required medicines in all the districts, especially the most affected areas to tackle the spread timely.
The DCs were asked to ensure complete ban on inter-district movement and transportation of animals and called for strict enforcement by strengthening Nakas.
The Div Com also asked the Deputy Commissioners and concerned Animal Husbandry Officers to take measures to isolate of the stray animals and safe disposal of dead animals. Fogging of dairies and other places including vulnerable areas was also stressed upon.
The activities and action plan of the districts under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan was also reviewed by the Div Com. "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan has been launched to focus on institutional support and community outreach programmes to make society free from all kinds of harmful addictions like alcohol, drugs abuse etc" he said.
The Div Com asked DCs to make action plans, appoint nodal officers and include all stakeholder departments in spreading awareness against the drugs. He also emphasized on conducting Gram Sabhas in the Panchayats, holding meetings with PRIs to promote the campaign.
The Div Com advised for organizing pledge taking ceremonies in schools, painting competitions, seminars etc for awareness among youth. The DCs were further asked to identify buildings for setting up Drug De-addiction Centres in the districts and ensure its functioning. Meanwhile, the Div Com also reviewed the progress on verification of PM Kisan scheme beneficiaries.
The DCs apprised the Div Com about the progress in their respective districts.
The Div Com directed all the DCs to speed up the process and complete the verification and uploading of data at the earliest.
