Week long “Shikshak Parv” concludes

UDHAMPUR, Sept 9: A weeklong series of events to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as Shikshak Parv (Teacher’s Day) was observed under the aegis of Read and Lead Club in collaboration with Department of Music, Govt. College for Women Udhampur culminated today with felicitation ceremony. PadamShree Prof. Shiv Datt Nirmohi was the chief gust on the occasion. The felicitation ceremony began with the formal welcome address of the chief guest by the worthy Principal of the college Dr. Monika Sharma, where she extended warm greetings to Prof. Nirmohi on behalf of the entire staff and students of the college. Dr. Monika Sharma while addressing the students stressed to follow the footprints of such renowned and celebrated personalities to make their life meaningful and worthy of living. Earlier, Dr. Mool Raj convener Read and Lead Club briefed the audience about the life, contribution and achievements of Prof. Shiv Nirmohi as a laurite of literature particularly in the field of Dogri and Hindi literature. He also familiarized the gathering about the milestones in the journey of Prof. Nirmohi from a teacher to recipient of Padamshree award. In his address as a chief guest Prof. Nirmohi said that to be a good student, teacher and human being one must have supreme sense of nationalism and nation hood. He remarked that an ideal teacher is one who is free from the bondages of selfishness and prejudices. Both revolution and holocaust grow under the guise of a teacher who can idealize his revolutionary ideology for the development of a nation as a nation builder, he said. On this occasion Prof. Shiv Datt Nirmohi was also felicitated by presenting a ceremonial shawl and a memento by the Principal and the staff members of the college. On the ocassion, the entire series of event was began with offering a floral tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan on 5 th of September 2022 where worthy principal of the college Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief guest. The first day was marked with the deliberation of number of lectures by faculty members and students on the life and contribution of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan in the field of education in the light of NEP 2020. In the week long schedule of shikshak Parv various activities were under taken like Essay Writing, Slogan Writing and Poster Making competition, common Induction program for fresher’s and screening of motivational Movie for students. A colorful cultural program on this eve was also presented by students under the guidance of the department of Music. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Shama Rani, Assistant Professor of Dogri. About 200 students and all the faculty members and of the college witnessed the felicitation ceremony.
