BMS founder’s death anniversary observed as Sewa Divas

JAMMU, Sept 13: BMS J&K observed the 3rd death anniversary of its founder S. Ravinder Singh today as Sewa Divas and organised various programmes at Jammu. The great trade union leader and founder of BMS in Jammu and Kashmir, S Ravinder Singh was inclined towards education of children of working classes and so in his memory as tribute to the departed soul of Sardar, BMS distributed school uniform sweaters to students of Govt. Middle School Satwari, where mostly the children of working classes are studying.
A simple function was organised at Govt. Middle School Narwal Pain Jammu cantt Satwari and all the 175 students studying in the school were provided with uniform sweaters so that harsh winters may become less difficult for these children of marginalized classes.
Speaking at the function speakers from BMS highlighted the pro poor approach of Sardar Ji school in charge Head mistress Rachna Gupta along with all the staff of the school and Cantonment Board member S Hardev Singh Ji cooperated in the sweater distribution. Later in the day a Samriti Sabha was organised at Trikuta Yatri Niwas, Ambphalla Jammu where Rupesh Kumar Prant Pracharak RSS & Parshotam Dadichi was main speaker.
The Sabha was started with welcome address by Gen Secy BMS Neelam Sharma and followed by various addresses by contemporaries who shared various incidents from past years spent with him and thereby threw light on various aspects of great personality. While recalling old memories Parshotam Dadheechi told that came in J&K in 1975 and started organising the workers and due to his tireless efforts in 1976 the 1st trade union was formed and got registered in Jammu Municipal Committee named as Municipal workers union and during his life time more than 60 unions were got registered in different fields of industrial workers, banks, scheme and non scheme workers etc. and he remained active in trade union field and was guardian of poor workers and always stood for the rights of the poor workers and thousands of workers cases pleaded before the labour court and got justice for them he put his special focus against the exploitation of contract labour system in the state and also remained member of central Govt advisory Board for more than 15 years and also remained workers representative in different statuary boards constituted under different labour laws and full credit goes in his favour for bringing ESIC in J&K state in 1989. He appealed the working classes of today particularly the various trade union leaders and BMS functionaries to take inspiration from towering personality.
The president of BMS J&K Ashfaq Ahmad presented vote of thanks to the audience drawn from various industrial units, trade unions and other socially active organizations. The Sabha witnessed presence of various karyakarta of BMS from across the UT of J&K. The stage was kept by Roshu, Gen Secy of Anganwadi Union. The Sabha was followed by Priti Bhog.
