AOI, ASCOMS organise free cancer screening camp at SDH Akhnoor

AKHNOOR, Sept 14: American Oncology Institute (AOI), ASCOMS Hospital Jammu today organized a free cancer screening and awareness camp in association with World Cancer Care at New Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor. In the cancer screening camp, more than 200 patients were screened and examined by Dr. Sujeet Bhat (Surgical Oncologist) & Dr. Jagmohan Singh (Radiation Oncology) from AOI Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neeraj Bishnoi, Regional COO, AOI, "Besides conducting screening tests at the camp, we wanted to educate and create awareness about early detection in the public. The key to surviving cancer is early diagnosis and prevention. With this camp, American Oncology Institute aims to motivate people and urge regular screening. We are committed to offering best-in-class clinical expertise, technological superiority, and service excellence for patients in the Jammu & Kashmir region. AOI is the first and only exclusive Cancer Hospital in Jammu offering precision cancer care."
Those present at the camp were Dr. Harbaksh Singh (CMO Jammu), Dr. Saleem Khan (BMO Akhnoor), Dr. R.K.Dhar (Pathologist) also graced the occasion. As part of the organising team of the mega camp, Aditya Sabharwal, Regional Head (North) Marketing for AOI and Vigat Chandan, Ashutosh Gupta, Anil Raina were also present along with the nursing and medical team of AOI Jammu and World Cancer Care.
AOI and World Cancer Care team offered free tests and services like Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Pap Smear, PSA, and other lab tests along with free Oncology, Gynaecology, and general consultation at the camp. More than 200 patients were screened at this mega oncology and cancer screening camp in Akhnoor where 4 buses cum mobile medical vans were present. The team from AOI Jammu also informed that other such camps will also be organised in different cities and districts of Jammu regularly now after every three months in others parts of the UT also, so that maximum people are made aware and screened for cancer as early detection can help increase the chances of survival and treatment success in cancer patients.
Aditya Sabharwal, Regional Marketing Head (North) said that in its continued efforts to bring in the most advanced technology in Cancer Care to the region, AOI Jammu is installing one of the most advanced Radiotherapy Machine, HALCYON E at AOI Jammu unit and it will be the first ever such machine installed in the whole of Jammu & Kashmir. He also said that AOI Jammu is empanelled under Ayushman Bharat Scheme and is doing free of cost treatment regularly under this scheme in AOI Jammu.
