Chief Secretary attends exhibition on 'Drug abuse and Youth'

JAMMU, Sept 20: Under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J.P. Sharma and Dean Student Welfare a programme was organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) and Health Centre SKUAST-J in collaboration with J&K Society for the Promotion of Youth and Mass to commemorate 'NASHA MUKT J&K ABHIYAN'. An exhibition of posters made by students on the theme 'DRUG ABUSE AND YOUTH' was organised to make aware the common mass about the growing menace of drug addiction and use of Psychoactive Substances at SKUAST-Jammu, wherein, Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta IAS was the Chief guest accompanied by Ramesh Kumar IAS Divisional commissioner Jammu. On the occasion Chief Secretary planted a sampling of a medicinal tree in the lawn of Health Centre. During inspection of exhibition he also interacted with students on drug abuse and its ill effects on society. Chief Secretary also handed over the certificates and mementos to winners of the poster making event. Former ADG, DRDO, University statutory officers, faculty members, staff of NSS wing and health centre. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Anil Gupta Medical officer and Dr. Subhash C Kashyap, NSS Coordinator. Judging committee comprised Arvinder Singh, Dr Balbir Dhotra, Dr R Punia, Dr. Veena Sharma and Dr. Sushmita Dadich. All NSS Pos. 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions bagged by Shivansu Balwal, Ravishu and Riya Bandral and consolation prizes was given to Rukmani and Alma Mahzoor.
