S. G. Govt. Degree College Doongi Organises “Awareness Rally on Make India Drug Free”

Jammu, Sept 20: Shaheed Ghanisham Govt. Degree College Doongi organised an “Awareness Rally” under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit to enlighten the masses about ill effects of drugs on 20-09-2022. The theme of the event was “Make India Drug Free”. Drug addiction currently can be considered, not only as purely medical, but also as social problem of modern society.
It is indeed posing a problem in the society. The rally was co-ordinated by Jarnail Singh, Head Department of sociology, Nodal officer Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The objective of this rally was to inform and educate the community especially the youth who are more vulnerable to this menace. If people know about it, they will be cautious and that is the way to beat this evil.
Principal of the college, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad flagged off the rally. The rally started from S. G Govt. Degree College Doongi, Sasalkote and culminated at Keri, Doongi covering a total of 2 kms. A huge number of students and people of the locality participated in the rally. Some Participants were holding placards with preventive messages on drug addiction others were carrying slogans emphasizing how to deal with drugs addiction. The organising committee comprised of Prof. Zaheer Abass, Head Department of Economics, Prof. Naresh kumar, Head Department of Dogri, Prof, Samina khan, Head Department. of English.
