GCW udhampur organizes devotional solo singing competition

UDHAMPUR Sept 20: As part of 22days long Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations (September 10, 2022 to October 01, 2022), a devotional (Gandhian song) Solo Song Singing Competition was organized by the Department of Music in collaboration with Cultural Committee Government College for Women(GCW) Udhampur at college campus here today. The programme was organized under the supervision of HoD Music (Convener Cultural Committee) Dr. Seema Sharma. The Principal of the host college Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking, the principal congratulations to participants and appreciated the efforts of the Music Department and cultural committee to hold the wonderful contest in the institution. She said that such type of contest would definitely provide a platform to budding students to channelize their talent in right direction. As many as 23 students participated in the competition and sung very melodiously song, Mosami of semester 1st was adjudged best singer in the competition. While second and third position weregiven to Diksha Thakur of semester 1st and Sonia Verma of semester 2nd. The consolation prizes werealso given to Manvi Chanyal of semester 2nd and Sonali Devi of 1st semester respectively. Chief guest also distributed merit certificates among the winners as well as participants of the contest. Prof. Sumita Rao Department of Zoology, Prof. Pooja Bharti Department of Geography and Dr. Muketshi Sharma Department of Music.

The proceeding of the programme conducted by Ms Manvi and Ms Saima . while Prof. Shama Rani presented a vote of thanks during the programme.
Among others, HOD Chemistry, Prof. Kewel Kumar, Dr. Mool Raj, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhyay, Prof. RoopaKumari, Dr Shaveta Sharma, Prof Shama Rani,Dr.Sanjay Kumar ,Prof Yash Kumar and Ms Arti Gupta and large number of students were also present on the occasion .
