Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 26: Within minutes of the veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who ended his more than five-decade-long association with the Congress last month, announced his party name on Monday as Democratic Azad Party, the globally known online encyclopedia -Wikipedia listed it on the popular portal.
The Wikipedia has listed the new party at the URL ttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Azad_Party showing the influence the Azad in the international circles that the party was instantly listed in the encyclopedia.
“The Democratic Azad Party (abbr. DAP) is an Indian political party formed by Ghulam Nabi Azad on 26 September 2022 at Jammu.[1][2] The party’s top three agendas in Jammu and Kashmir are restoration of full statehood, right to land and employment to native domiciles.[3] The party’s ideology is based on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi,” Wikipedia states.
“The name of the Democractic Azad Party was announced by Ghulam Nabi Azad on 26 September 2022. He received almost 1,500 names in Sanskrit, Hindi, and Urdu as suggestion for name of the party. He preferred this one since it contains a Hindustani term.[4],” it added.
The Wikipedia was fast enough to even tell about the history of the newly floated party. “On 26 August 2022, Azad announced his resignation from the Congress Party in a public letter after launching a scathing attack on the top leadership, particularly Rahul Gandhi.[1] On 4 September 2022, Azad announced the formation of a new political party after resigning from Congress. He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir will decide the name and the flag for the new party.[5] On 26 September 2022, Azad announced his own party name as Democratic Azad Party.,” the online encyclopedia added.
Moments before the development, Azad had addressed a press conference here.
While addressing the media Azad said: “We want the name to be democratic, peaceful and independent.”
He also unveiled the Democratic Azad Party’s flag and explained the “significance of the colour.”
