Reasi Police seizes illicit liquor, destroys Lahan

Reasi, Sept 29: Continuing Nasha Mukt Reasi Abhiyaan and Intensifying the drive against Drug Abuse and illicit liquor smuggling teams of District Police Reasi under the supervision of SSP Reasi Sh. Amit Gupta nabbed 03 illicit liquor smugglers and recovered 27 litres of illicit liquor, 17 Quarters of Whisky from their possession and destroy 320 litres of Lahan, Seized one distillation Unit.
Team of Police Post Tote Sarhi led by Asi Baldev Singh under Supervision of Dy.SP Headquarters Sh Iftkhar Ahmed during patrolling duty received an information through reliable sources that one person namely Jambal Ram S/O Amar Nath R/O Sarote Kote Mohra Gabber Tehsil Bhomag District Reasi is manufacturing illicit liquor near his residence.
On this Police Party conducted a raid and recovered one distillation unit along with 320 litres of lahan, seized 22 litres of illicit liquor from the possession of Jamban and Lahan got destroyed on the spot.
Jamal a history sheeter of the area a notorious illicit liquor Smuggler also involved in many other cases got arrested from the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 234/2022 U/S 48 (a)(e) Excise Act registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation initiated.
In another incident Team of Police Post Jyotipuram led by PSI Rajat laid a surprise naka at Jyotipuram area, intercepted one illicit liquor Smuggler namely Kuldeep Raj S/O Suram Chand R/O Village-Saranapur, Tehsil- Bhomag, Distt. Reasi from his possession 5 litres of illicit liquor got recovered. In this regard a case FIR No. 235/2022 U/S 48(a), Excise Act stands registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation started.
In one more incident on a specific information of District Special Branch under Supervision of SP Katra Sh. Amit Bhasin, Police Party of PCP Balini intercepted and apprehended one person namely Sanjay Kumar S/O Girdhari Lal R/O Kadmal Tehsil Katra District Reasi along with 17 quarters (250 ml)each of JK Special Whisky recovered from his possesion.In this regard a case FIR No. 260/2022 U/S 188 IPC stands registerd at Police Station katra and Investigation started.
Sh Amit Gupta-JKPS Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi while sharing the details conveyed that Reasi Police is committed to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and illicit liquor smuggling from the area and under this drive a record number of 06 notorious drug peddlers including one lady had already been booked under PSA and are in different Jails.
SSP further appealed that people of Reasi should come forward and join hands with Police in this *NASHA MUKHT REASI ABIYAAN.
