Women’s co-operation must for development of Jat community: Raj Kuamri Jai Inder Kour
First-ever Grand Jat Mahila Adhiveshan organized

JAMMU, Oct 9: The Jat community women on Sunday showcased unprecedented strength and solidarity during the first ever Mahila Sammelan organized under the banner of All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) here today.
Jat community comprising approx. 5 lakh people celebrated first ever grand Mahila Sammelan at Golden Leaf Banquet in Jammu under the leadership of Ch.Manmohan Singh, President All India Jat Mahasabha (J&K). The sheer presence of more than 2000 Jat women of Jammu Province who attended the Adhiveshan crossed all expectations and sent a strong message of Mahila Shakti in leading any movement.
On the occasion Ch Yudhvir Singh, General Secretary AIJMS, was the Special Invitee; Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour, President AIJMS Mahila Wing Punjab and daughter of Maharaja Capt Amrinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab was the Chief Guest and Dr Urmila Tomar, Director School Education (Retd) Madhya Pradesh government and Dr Alka Balram Kshatriya, former Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Gujarat were the Guests of Honour.
At the outset of the Sammelan, Ch Manmohan Singh presented welcome address and reiterated the demands of the Jat Maha Sabha including reservation under OBC category, ownership rights over the custodian land allotted to the families after Indo- Pak wars of 1965 and 1971 in Districts Kathua, Samba and Jammu, payment of Rs 5.5 lakh grant to the left over families and, release of promised payment of Rs 25 lakh for one time settlement.
The presence of many local subject matter expert and distinguished ladies gave very valuable suggestions and ideas on way forward to press for demands.
Speaking on the occasion, Ch Yudhvir Singh, General Secretary AIJMS, said that united we stand and divided we fall should be remembered all the times as the fight for getting OBC status is a long one and needs persistent support of community people to achieve the objective. “Everyone present stood shoulder to shoulder with their men folk giving further impetus to the ongoing struggle to get what the community rightfully deserves and wake up the administration from deep slumber,” he added.
Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour, President AIJMS Mahila Wing Punjab in her address said appreciated the efforts of Ch Manmohan Singh for taking this initiative bringing all the Jat community of Jammu and Kashmir under one banner.
Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour said that she was happy to see so many women attending the Sammelan with great enthusiasm. She said that this change in attitude will help the Jat community to move forward with confidence thus ensuring it’s all round development.
Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour said that womenfolk are in no way weaker than their male counterparts and therefore time has come that unwarranted barriers be broken down and equal opportunities given to all. She asserted that women’s cooperation is the need of the hour for the development of society. She appealed to the women of Jat community to come forward and extend all possible support to Jat Maha Sabha in getting OBC status at par with other parts of the country.
Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour also asserted that in today’s changing environment, children need good education and emphasized upon the parents to focus on the education of their children, ensuring that they receive quality education especially in view of the fact that children are the future of a nation and need to be moulded into the best citizens. She stressed upon the need to make the younger generation aware about the ideals of Jat culture and the significance of adopting the same in life.
Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour also assured that in the next Jat Sammelam in J&K, whenever it will be organized, the Jats of Punjab State will participate with wholeheartedly.
Dr Urmila Tomar, Director School Education (Retd) Madhya Pradesh Government, in her address, termed this Adhiveshan as historic. She said that this type of Sammelan was conducted first time in the country where in huge enthusiasm were seen among the women. She believed that the voice raised by the Jat women in this Sammelan will goes upto Delhi and its impact will seen in the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir as the Government will be forced to think about the genuine demands of Jat community.
Dr Alka Balram Kshatriya, former Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Gujarat said that women of the community can contribute significantly in achieving the targets of the AIJMS because of their inherent patience and resilience to struggle. She anticipated that the Mahila Sammelan will help fortify the struggle of Jats in a big way and soon the government will concede to the demand.
He further thanked each and every one and media staff for coming all the way and gracing the occasion of unity, strength and self confidence for supporting our cause in UT of Jammu and Kashmir. He also gave credit to his core team members for making this Sammelan a great success.
During the Sammelan, Sheetal Choudhary (KAS), Ranjeet Kaur (KAS) and Flying Officer Priyanka Choudhary were honoured by the Chief Guest and other guests, terming them Pride of Jats.
Ch Manmohan Singh, Brig Pawan Sauntra, CA Sunil Choudhary, DySP Dewan Chand and Ch Avtar Krishan presented memento to the Chief Guest Raj Kumari Jai Inder Kour.
