19 kgs poppy straw like substance recovered under Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan, 04 drug peddlers arrested

SAMBA, Oct 26: Continuing its drive against the menace of drugs, District Police Samba under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, IPS has arrested 04 drug peddlers and recovered about 19 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance from their possession in the jurisdiction of P/S Samba.
A Police Party of PS Samba led by SHO PS Samba Inspr. Deepak Jasrotia under the supervision of DySP Hqrs.Samba Mohd. Usman during vehicle checking at Naka Nud intercepted a Tractor-Trolley without Registration No. for checking.
During checking, about 19 Kgs of Poppy straw like substance found in the cavity of the bumper of the Tractor-Trolley and from the 02 cylinders loaded in said Tractor-Trolley.
On questioning, the accused disclosed their identities as:-
(1) Kulwant S/O Dev R/O Kot Putoi, Hoshiarpur, Punjab (driver).
(2) Mandeep Kumar S/o Sham Lal R/o Pholadiwal, Jalandhar.
(3) Rahul S/o Deep Kumar &
(4) Roopa S/o Parkash Ram
both the residents of Sarhala Kala District Hoshiarpur Punjab.
The said accused persons have been arrested on the spot and the contraband item alongwith Tractor-Trolley was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No 260/2022 U/S 8/15/25 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation started.
