JAMMU, Nov 17: The Regional Centre Jammu of IGNOU functionaries today participated in the ongoing "KRISHAK MELA 2022" being organized by the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Jammu at its main Campus Chatha Jammu. Regional Director In charge Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Assistant Regional Director Dr. Asha Upadhyay, Deputy Registrar S. Tejinder Pal Singh and other staff members from the Regional Centre participated in the programme. Regional Centre Jammu had installed a stall at the campus site which displayed literature related to the History of the Regional Centre, programmes offered by the University, new initiatives and resolutions adopted by the University, new schemes launched by the University for the prospective as well as enrolled students, new programme launched by the University.
A number of students, staff, faculty of SKUAST Jammu and people from general public visited the IGNOU stall and raised several queries which were dealt with by the Regional Centre functionaries. Many of the visitors expressed their willingness to enrol for the agricultural programmes offered by IGNOU. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In charge while interacting with the Media said that IGNOU offers a variety of programmes from the School of Agriculture.
IGNOU offers a Master Degree programme in Food Services and Quality Management (MSCDFSM) which is quite famous across the country. The programme has been developed for the emerging employment sector (hospital/community dietetics, food service management). The programme also focuses on upgrading the professional competencies of serving personnel in food service establishments, such as dieticians, diet technicians, counsellors etc. upgrading their knowledge and equipping them with productive skills to enhance their career progression and employability.
"Apart from the high-ended MSC programme, we offer different programmes at the Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma level in the field of agriculture. We offer programmes in Agribusiness, Agriculture Policy, Dairy Technology, Meat Technology, Poultry Farming, Bee Keeping, Organic Farming, Watershed Management, Water harvesting and management, Sericulture, etc. The programmes have meticulously been designed with a view to address the needs of training workforce, developing manpower and enhancing professional capabilities and people working in the field of agriculture must enrol for any of these programmes depending upon their choice which would definitely benefit them in many ways", said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In charge.
