Modi Govt committed to provide basic necessities to J&K people: Kavinder

JAMMU, Nov 25: Kavinder Gupta former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has asserted that BJP Govt at the Centre led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands fully committed to provide the basic necessities including the drinking water to the people in every nook and corner of the nation. He said that this can be well gauged from the fact that the significant Jal Jeevan Mission launched by the Govt in this direction successfully achieved the 'Har Ghar Jal' target across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP leader stated this during a function organized to commence the development work of laying of drinking water supply pipeline at Ward 51 in Sector-3 of Channi Himmat. Kavinder Gupta today kick started this development work which is estimated to be completed at as cost of Rs. 80 lakh in the presence of Vinay Gupta BJP District President Jammu, Raj Kumar Chairman Health and Sanitation Committee Jammu Municipal Corporation, Bhushan BJP Mandal President & Vice Chairman Cantonment Board and Narinder Koki besides a large number of local residents.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, the former Dy Chief Minister said that water is the most significant necessity second only to air without which the human survival is not possible. Asserting that it is the prime duty of the Govt to ensure that these basic necessities are available to the people quite easily, he said that BJP Govt is fully committed to provide all the basic necessities of life to the people irrespective of caste, creed, colour, political or other affiliations.
Kavinder Gupta said that Jal Jeevan Mission has been launched by the Centre by the Centre envisioning to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India. The programme will also implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through grey water management, water conservation, rain water harvesting.
Congratulating the residents of the area for fulfillment of their long pending demand with the commencement of this development work today he lauded Raj Kumar, Chairman Health and Sanitation Committee for his hectic efforts in the direction of getting the developmental works of this ward initiated. He said this all was possible only due to his dedicated efforts and the urge to serve the people of the Ward. He informed that 11 new tube wells are in the offing in Channi Himmat area which will undoubtedly resolve the issue of water scarcity in the area once for all.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sr. Hardev Singh, Amrik Singh Bitta, Parshotam Gupta, Munish Gupta, Sanjay Gupta, Shanti Swaroop, Ramesh Chander and Abhishek.
Meanwhile Kavinder Gupta also started the development work of laying of tiles at Cantonment Market which is estimated to be completed at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh. This was a long pending demand of the locals visiting the market regularly for various purposes.
