OBC’s ignored for past 8 years, NC alone can pave the way for their upliftment: Rattan Lal
11/27/2022 9:56:50 PM
EARly Times REport SUNDERBANI, Nov 27: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has slammed the incumbent regime in J&K led by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for totally ignoring the people belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and demanded the enhancement of the reservation quota for the members of this backward community. The senior National Conference leader expressed this while addressing the workers’ convention of the party’s OBC Cell in Village Marchola of Tehsil Sunderbani today. In the convention, Rattan Lal Gupta was the Chief Guest while National Conference OBC Cell Provincial President Abdul Ghani Teli was the Guest of honour. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Vijay Lochan, Naseem Liyaqat (DDC Chairman), Th Rameshwar Singh, Th Shamsher Singh, Anita Thakur, in-charge Kalakote NC and Additional Spokesperson JKNC, Th Yashu Vardhan Singh, Mohammad Rafiq and Mohd Nissar, Sunita ji, Dr Ragubhir, Subash Saraf, Bhuti Ram, Advocate Ishtiaq, Jatinder Singh Chib, Manzoor, Ashok Sharma, Ranjeet Singh, Habib Chowdhary and Vivek. Addressing party workers, Rattan Lal Gupta accused the J&K Administration of adopting a negative attitude towards the OBCs saying that this is evident from the fact that the Govt is not showing the least concern to addressing the pressing issues of this section of the society. He said that it was the National Conference that showed its concern for this section of the society by constituting the OBC Development Board in the erstwhile State of J&K with the Chief Minister being the Chairman. He lamented that the community now stands totally ignored in the present regime. However, he asserted that NC will work relentlessly to uplift this section of the society and bring it at par with the other sections of the society. The provincial President asked the workers to work sincerely at the grass-roots level take stock of people’s problems especially the OBCs and get the same addressed at the earliest. He appealed to the OBC community members to further strengthen the hands of National Conference Supremo Dr Farooq Abdullah as NC alone is the solution to their problems. Abdul Ghani Teli, in his address, said that the government has dejectedly unsuccessful in protecting the rights of OBC community in Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that when other Central laws are being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir then why the Central Government is shying to implement Central OBC quota in reservation at par with rest of the States. He demanded that government should issue one time OBC certificate on the analogy of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories. Naseem Liyaqat, DDC Chairman Rajouri, said that National Conference is the only secular party in J&K and deep-rooted across the region right upto the grass roots level. He said that the party has always followed the ideology that paves the way for equitable welfare and prosperity of every section of the society. Vijay Lochan said “It is most unfortunate that the OBC people continue to be totally ignored for the last 8 years and today there is a dire need to enhance the four percent reservation quota for the OBC community.” He appealed to the OBC people to vote for NC in the impending Assembly elections and strengthen the party for ensuring equitable development and upliftment of all sections of the society. Th Rameshwar Singh, DDC Member said that though the wrong policies of the BJP Govt have brought only miseries to the people of J&K in general but the OBCs have been the worst affected as the UT Administration failed to pay focussed attention to this underprivileged lot. Th Yashu Vardhan Singh, while addressing the convention, assured the senior functionaries of the Party that he along with a strong and dedicated army of party workers will leave no stone unturned in strengthening the party base across Sunderbani and Kalakote constituency ensuring success of the party candidates in the impending Assembly elections. Later, the BJP workers Rishab Sharma and Mohit Sharma along with their supporters joined the party fold in presence of senior party functionaries.
