Talk about possibilities | | | Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have realized that the assembly elections are coming near and the announcement in this regard can be made any time. After the Election Commission of India (ECI) has completed the process of revision of electoral rolls, the political parties have started coming out in the open. Most of the political leaders are talking about getting back Article 370. They are trying to lure the voters by telling them that if they are voted to power they can make impossible, possible. But the people are aware of the fact that the forthcoming assembly elections won’t be contested for getting back Article 370 as it is not within the reach of the local politicians. It’s just a slogan which the politicians are raising it to remain in circulation. The elections in J&K are due and there is every possibility about these being held early next year. Political parties have to put their act together to ensure that they make some impact in the elections. The political scenario in J&K has changed completely post abrogation of Article 370, no party is going to find it easy to win the elections as these are not going to be a cakewalk for any political formation. The political leaders need to think something new as the situation has changed and people during the past three years have come to know what good governance means. The administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has set new benchmarks of good governance and has been handling the situation in a very efficient manner. The political parties will have to do something new to strike a chord with the people. They can no longer sell the old wine in a new bottle as the times have changed and people can easily differentiate between a mere slogan and a sincere attempt which is aimed at helping people. Whichever party forms the government in Jammu and Kashmir should bear in mind that it will have to act as a bridge between the people and the Centre as J&K is no more a state and Union Territory is directly governed by the Centre. Politicians will have to report to the Lieutenant Governor and his say will be final. |
