Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 2: Just three days for the much-awaited election for the president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference but there is no activity in the party.
The guarded silence maintained by NC leaders has fuelled rumours that all is not well in the party after former Chief Minister and incumbent president Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s “resignation”.
Notable Dr. Farooq Abdullah had claimed that he has not resigned as president of the party NC from its official Twitter handle announced that Farooq Abdullah has announced stepping down.
Sources said that all is not well in the party after the development of Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s “resignation”. “No one is ready to speak about the ongoing silent storm in the party”, sources said that process of filing nomination papers should be started at this point of time”, a source said.
Incumbent party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on November 19 claimed that he has not resigned as president of the party.
“Who said I have resigned I haven’t resigned as president of the party”, Dr. Farooq Abdullah reacted when media persons asked about his decision to step down.
“I don't know who is spreading such rumours”, he said but hastened to add that election for the president of the National Conference will be held on December 5.
Earlier the party from its official Twitter handle announced that Farooq Abdullah has announced stepping down.
“Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahib has informed his colleagues of his decision to step down as president of JKNC. In spite of the best efforts of senior colleagues in the party, Dr. Sahib was adamant that he wouldn't review his decision”, the NC tweeted from its official Twitter handle.
“In light of this sudden announcement which has caught everyone by surprise the General Secretary as per the party constitution, has been tasked with conducting the election for party president which will be completed on Dec 5. Until then Dr. Sahib continues as President of JKNC”, the party stated.
