Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 12: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President NC Jammu has asked the party cadre to gear up for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) polls.
He was addressing a meeting of Jammu Urban NC here at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu on Monday. The meeting was organized by Chander Mohan Sharma District President Jammu Urban.
The NC stalwart leader from Jammu alleged that the Jammu Municipal Corporation has become the den of corruption and the people are fed up of the poor performance given by the incumbent helmsman running the municipality.
Rattan Lal said that the Municipal Corporation has miserably failed to address civic issues in Jammu and change of guard by the BJP leadership at the fag-end is testimony to the fact that everything was not good in running the affairs of the JMC. He alleged that siphoning of funds and unproductive expenditure made the municipality in Jammu unproductive and therefore it is the time for the National Conference activists to expose all these facts before the people to garner their support and win the aforesaid polls. He also alleged that JMC's Mohalla Dispensaries are not functioning properly and there are number of flaws in the working of these utmost important public health facilities.
The Provincial President asserted that so-called initiative My Town My Pride is nothing but merely an eye wash to fool the public. He said that there has been no development on ground about which the government has been making tall claims. In fact the people are decrying for basic amenities besides tormented by receiving false and hefty power bills, he added. He asked the NC cadre to gird up loins to make a mark in the forthcoming ULB polls as the chances of the party are bright this time because people have been disappointed by the poor performance of JMC under BJP leadership.
Rattan Lal Gupta said that ground level workers can play the active role in changing the course of ULB polls therefore it is significant that NC cadre should mobilize the grass-root level workers to ensure resounding victory in the upcoming polls. He said that only National Conference can address people's problems for which the party cadre will have to further strengthen the base of party at grass roots level.
