Bhartiya Kala Sangam holds folk music Bhagatian

JAMMU, Dec 19: In order to revive and promote dying folk art form Bhagatian, Bhartiya Kala Sangam, Jammu in collaboration with Ministry of Culture Govt of India today held Dogri Folk Music programme at village Raipur Satwari Cantt, Jammu , which was witnessed by large number of people and art lovers.
On this occasion, Baldev Singh Baloria Dy. Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation was Chief Guest, whereas Sohail Kazmi, Sr. Journalist and Member Awqaf Board presided over the function. Amongst others dignitaries , T.R. Sharma KAS (Retd) Chairman, Romesh Singh Chib, Director Bhartiya Kala Sangam and Bishan Dass former Cultural Officer were also present in the program. While addressing the audience, Baldev Baloria appreciated the efforts of Bhartiya Kala Sangam for revival of Bhagatian Dogri Folk form pinning hopes that BKS will further increase such folk parties to protect this art form. He also urged the parents to encourage their children to speak mother tongue Dogri at home. Earlier welcoming the Chief Guest and audience, T.R. Sharma, Chairman BKS gave a brief about various Cultural and other literary activities carried out by the club and said that Ministry of Culture Govt of India has assigned the task of reviving the dying folk art form Bhagatian and increase more parties in the Jammu region. He informed that as against only one existing party of Bhagatian led by Girdhari Lal from Arina, now with the constant efforts of Bhartiya Kala Sangam, three more parties of Mohan Lal, Basant Yogi and Tara Chand have been revived who performed in today's programme including Nita Adarsh and Party . Efforts are afoot to increase more such folk parties in Jammu region, he added The function was ably anchored by Bishan Dass and vote of thanks presented by Romesh Singh Chib.
