Jammu being turned into 'Powerless City' instead of 'Smart City': Namrta
12/23/2022 10:49:34 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 23: Tearing into the government for its utter failure on all fronts, Namrta Sharma, President Women's Wing of Aam Aadmi Party Jammu and Kashmir has pooh-poohed the Lt Governor led Union Territory Administration for turning the City of Temples into a 'Powerless City' instead of the much clamoured 'Smart City'. She said that it is an irony of the people of Jammu that despite making tall claims about working relentlessly towards transforming it into a 'Smart City', the people are suffering badly on account of the unprecedented mess on account of unabated disruptions in power supply amidst unscheduled power cuts having become the new norm of the Power Department.
This was stated by Namrta Sharma Women's Wing chief of AAP in a statement issued here today.
Namrta Sharma said that the incumbent J&K Administration and the BJP Govt at the Centre have proved to be utter failure in addressing the problems and issues of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In fact these incumbent dispensations are the 'Jumla' dispensations focussing only on propaganda and delivering a big zero on ground, she added.
The senior AAP leader stated that the power and drinking water scarcity have become the hallmark of J&K Administration and what could be more unfortunate than the fact that people of J&K suffer due to power shortage despite this J&K having immense hydroelectric power resources and potential. She said that it is not only the question of power supply but the status of other basic amenities too is no better.
Castigating the government of depriving the people of this hyper-sensitive region of the basic necessities of life, she said the proxy BJP governance cannot be tolerated by the people of this UT any more.
The senior AAP leader said that the present dispensation in absence of the duly elected representative, the government is totally biased and is working 24X7 to satiate the vested interests of the bureaucrats having pushed the welfare of the people to the back-bench leaving them to fend for themselves. She demanded that elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly be announced and held at the earliest as only the elected representatives of the people can realize and feel the miseries of the people and addressing their pressing issues appropriately.
Meanwhile, AAP's Women's Wing chief made a fervent appeal to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to issue strict instructions to the Power Department to desist from unscheduled power cuts and ensure 24X7 power supply to the City of Temples thus relieving the people of the erratic power supply woes.
