DC inaugurates FoSTaC workshop for Food Business Operators at Ramban

RAMBAN, Dec 23: Food Safety Department, Ramban, today organized a Special Workshop on Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) for Food Business Operators to impart them awareness and basic knowledge about the Eat Right Initiative as a part of Good Governance Week-2022 celebration.
Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam inaugurated the workshop in which all stakeholders, including Business operators, Hoteliers, Restaurant dealers, Sweets shopkeepers, and the traders of the Food Industry from different sectors participated.
The team of Food Safety Department in collaboration with the impaneled training partners, the National Education Society and Social Welfare Organization (NESSWO) imparted training and detailed lectures on FoSTaC under Eat Right Challenge phase-2 to participants.
The workshop was held in accordance with the guidelines of FSSAI under the supervision of the Designated Officer, Food Safety Ramban, Sanjeev Kumar and members of Beopar Mandal Ramban.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the participants, especially the youth, to disseminate the message of healthy eating among the public so that they can enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed on maintaining the highest levels of hygiene at food preparation places, and kitchens, besides ensuring sanitization of the food operations' premises and food contact materials. He also advised the Food Business Operators to ensure the quality of food items, besides promoting local dishes which are renowned at the national level.
The Designated Officer informed that every food business needs FSSAI license or registration and failure to comply with it may attract penalties under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.
As per the provisions under FSSAI Act, it is mandatory for all the Food Business Operators to have trained and certified individuals in their business establishments to ensure food safety.
