GGM Sc college celebrates Christmas Day

JAMMU, Dec 24: NSS of GGMSc. college celebrates Christmas day under the guidance of worthy principal Dr. Rajesh Gupta and supervision of Dr.Narinder Kumar NSS PO here today under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
Dr. Rajesh Gupta while speaking on the occasion said Christmas is a annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ observed on December 25 every year as a religious and cultural celebration among masses around the world. He apprised the audience that Christmas celebrations comprise of spending time with the family, decorating the entire house and shopping for near and dears. He added that on this day, the children love to see each other and spend the day playing games, sharing the new toys and gifts.
NSS PO Dr. Narinder Kumar started the event with quotations like Christmas is a magical time for both the young and old, Christmas is a special time of year when family and tradition blend together into magical holiday grandeur. He underlined that the Christmas tree is an evergreen trimmed with decorations, lights and tinsel, which is derived from a "paradise tree", or the tree from the Eden Garden. The tradition of gifting is the most important custom associated with Christmas, he added. The exchanging of gifts, decorating the house in twinkling lights, ornaments, cooking a grand meal, all are modern traditions surrounding the celebration of Christmas, he addressed. He emphasises that this festival marks the close of the year and symbolizes all things heart-warming and jolly, as it is a time when people all over the world visit their families and spend time together.
NSS advisory committee congratulated the volunteers on Christmas. Large no. of NSS volunteers and students of the college participated in the event enthusiastically.
