Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 26: Even as over 100 supporters of “loyalists” of Ghulam Nabi Azad have resigned from the Democratic Azad Party (DAP) but these leaders are unlikely to be properly accommodated in the Congress party due to reservations of some leaders.
Former Azad loyalists, who “ditched” their leader during the crucial time are likely to face some opposition in their former party because “dedicated” Congress leaders have asked the high command not to give much importance to those who left the party along with former Chief Minister.
Highly placed sources said that during their meeting with AICC general secretary incharge Rajni Patil some “committed” Congress hailed party’s move to open the channel of communication with “loyalists” of Ghulam Nabi Azad resulting in their expulsion from the DAP.
“Congress leaders are happy with the expulsion of former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Dr. Manohar Lal, and Thakur Balwan Singh but they are not ready to give previous positions to these leaders in the party hierarchy”, a source said and added that Congress leaders have made it clear to Rajni Patil that giving important positions to ex-Azad loyalists would send a very wrong message to those who are committed to the party.
Important to mention here that former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand on Saturday said that resigning from the Congress in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad was a blunder.
After the expulsion of Tara Chand, Dr. Manohar Lal, and Thakur Balwan Singh from the party, more than 100 office bearers and founding members of the DAP announced their resignation from the party in support of the three leaders, who decided to reach out to the people before deciding on their next course of action.
Tara Chand said that they will remain secular till their last breath and would have no objection to joining the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra when it enters Jammu and Kashmir.
