Weeklong District Handloom Expo concludes

UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: The weeklong District level expo /event organised by Handloom Development Department Udhampur concluded today here at Mini Stadium Udhampur.
Around 25 cooperative societies of District Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Jammu, and Ramban participated in the expo/ Mela.
They installed their Stalls of Handloom made Products like Blankets, Shawls, Cotton bed sheets, Cashmilon Blankets, Tweed weaving Coats, Jackets, Baskets, Basohli Pashmina shawls, Towels and other Desi-Wool made Products which were the main attraction of the event / Mella and recorded huge sale of products.
Public of Udhampur District appreciated the event /Expo and urged the department to organize more such types of events in future. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Director Handloom department Udhampur, Narsingh Dyal Verma said that the department would continue to provide handholding to the weaver community. He talked about the various schemes launched by the Handloom Development Department to benefit the weaver / Artisans community.
He urged them to avail the benefits of the Government schemes, such as Pradhan Mantri Weaver Mudra Scheme, Credit card Scheme, Education Scheme, Loan for purchase /Renovation / Modernizations of Looms, Share capital Loan, Karkhandar scheme, Block level Clusters, and formation of Co-operative Societies.
He further stressed that the Weavers should adopt the latest technology and develop new designs by replacing the old type of pit looms to Modern Fly shuttle looms to enhance their earning.
Later, Assistant Director Handloom department Udhamur, Narsingh Dyal Verma, and Assistant Director Weaver Service Centre Srinagar, Tahire Ahemd Hakeem distributed the participation certificates among the participating cooperative societies.
