DC Kishtwar inaugurates Livestock Show cum Awareness & Treatment Camp

KISHTWAR, Dec 31: Department of Animal Husbandry Kishtwar today organized a unique and first of its kind Awareness, Treatment Camp cum Livestock Show, under Information Extension /Dissemination and Communicational Programme, here in the Subash Park.
The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav was the Chief Guest. Lt Col Anshuman Patil, 17RR Dul (MARATHA LI), Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr S K sen, Chief Agriculture Officer, Amjad Hussain Malik, LDM Pankaj Kumar besides, hundreds of animal breeders, general Public, Panches and PRIs participated in the camp.
Display stalls were put up by the Department of Animal Husbandry and several other Departments including Agriculture/Horticulture Department, Lead District Manager Banks at the venue of the camp.
The main attraction among the stalls was the stall of the Indian Army wherein they displayed Army dogs, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sen was the main campaigner of the event accompanied by Dr. Arif Shah & Dr. SM Usman (Nodal officers of the event), Dr. Mohammad Anas, Dr. Mukesh Thakur, Dr. Mohd Umair, Dr. Owais Bashir, Dr. Aaqib Hussain, Dr. Sajad Ahmed (VAS) and other Veterinary staff.
The CAHO and other speakers educated the farmers about schemes of Department like IDDS, IFFDS, IPDP, KCC, Livestock Insurance etc and Veterinary services provided by the Department.
More than 233 farmers were given free of cost medicines, mineral mixtures, calcium supplements, Dewormers in addition to vaccination and the general treatment in order to boost the local milk production of their animals. The people were asked to co-operate & get themselves benefitted by various schemes of the Department.
A competition for best animal was held for three categories i.e Dairy Animals, Canine and feline for which more than 50 Dairy cows, 20 Canine and several feline participated, Cash and other prizes were distributed among the owners of the best chosen animals.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Department in uplifting the socio-economic status of the farmers and cattle breeders. He congratulated the Department of Animal Husbandry for organizing the Awareness/Treatment Camp cum Livestock Show.
Several farmers and PRIs also spoke on the occasion and thanked the Department of Animal Husbandry for the services and efforts and further assured the Department that full co-operation shall be extended for achieving the benefits extended under different schemes by the Department & requested to conduct such camps in future also.
