Shouriya Diwas celebrated at Jammu, resolution passed to strengthen social justice movement

Jammu, Jan 1: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations / DOM, Dalit OBC Minority & NSYF (National SC ST OBC Students & Youth Front) celebrated Shouriya Diwas at All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha, Jammu and people from all walks of life attended it.
Participants remembered the sacrifices of 500 Dalit Soldiers who Defeted 28000 Peshva Sanik at Bheema Koregaon on Ist Jan 1818 for their self-respect.
This battle has attained legendary status in Dalit history. The Dalits who follow BR Ambedkar view this battle as a victory of Mahars over the injustice and torture.
They also remembered Savitri Bai Phule, Fatima Sheikh who opened first school on 01.01.1848 to give education to females, S Uddam Singh who killed Gen Dyer on 13.03.1940 for massacre of Jallianwala Bagh on 10 April 1919, Martyrs of 2 April Bharat Band to save SC/ ST Atrocity Act and also paid tribute to Masud Ch a visionary who always supported the Social Justice Movement and was a well wisher, guide and a mentor for the Confederation and the movement at large. All these were remembered duly by the people present.
Participants also discussed about the curbs on freedom of expression by the state, land grab of the vulnerable by administration like Chak Jangi case, rising cases of caste atrocities, issues in transfer policy for the Inter District employees who have been given assurance by the LG, among others.
RK Kalsotra, State President Confederation, put forth various resolutions and these were passed in favour of Inter Distt Employees who are struggling from last 216 days for transfer policy as well release of pending salary, another resolution passed to not to cancel the allottee lands to the minorities.
Further the resolutions highlighted that there are also issues of Reservation in Promotions, backlog of 1.07 Lakh, 27% reservation for OBC, rising cases of Caste based Atrocities, issue of Chak Jangi station and others are lingering on for years and no heed is being paid by the government. A resolution was passed unanimously that a massive campaign will be launched to address all these issues by the Confederation with the support of masses so the government approach these issues systematically and in favour of the vulnerable.
Others who spoke included Shahid Saleem, H R Phonsa, Adv Jamil Kazmi, Ashu Peter Mattoo, S Kuldeep Singh Giani, Adv Ayaz Mugal, Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Satish Borkar, Dr AC Bhagat, Yasmeen Bhat, Amir-Ud-Din- Kasana, Suman Kumari, Shashi Syal, Kali Dass, Suraj Parkash, Ramesh Bhagat, Er Madan Lal, Girdhari Lal, Rashpal Chand, Tr Mohan Lal, Ramesh Sarmal, Adv. Susheel Samyal, Dev Soni, Rameah Kaith, Er Sham Bassan.
