Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 1: As Congress high command has not shown much enthusiasm to re-induct them in the party before the much-published Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi, “ex-loyalists” of Ghulam Nabi Azad have started showing their strength to “influence” the Congress leadership.
The Jan Sampark Abhiyan launched by ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad is nothing but an attempt to show their strength to Congress leadership. Highly placed sources said that the ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad- who deserted the Democratic Azad Party (DAP), were hoping that within minutes they will be re-inducted into the Congress party with much fanfare. “Some Congress leaders had promised that they would be inducted into the party during the visit of All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (organization) K C Venugopal but things could not be materialized due to the cold-shoulder response of Venugopal”, a source in the Congress said.
Wishing anonymity a senior Congress leader said that some dedicated local Congress leaders have expressed their reservations over giving importance to those who “ditched” the party and joined Ghulam Nabi Azad’s camp. “It was all due to such reservations that K C Venugopal asked local leadership to wait for some time before taking any decision on these leaders”, sources said.
Sources said that after getting the cold-shoulder response from K C Venugopal and Rajni Patil, all former Congress leaders and ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad have started organizing public meetings at different places to show their strength to Congress leaders.
These leaders have chalked out a detailed programme for the next 15 days to organize public meetings in different assembly constituencies of Jammu province.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, former minister Dr. Manohar Lal and Thakur Balwan Singh have addressed half a dozen public meetings during the last one week in different areas.
Some meetings were jointly addressed by the trio while some corner meetings were addressed individually.
