GDC Thannamandi organizes Plantation Drive in College

Thanamandi, Jan 4: NSS Unit of GDC Thannamandi organized a plantation drive in the college campus under 07 days special winter camp. On this occasion Commanding Officer Col. Arul Thomas of 48RR was the Chief Guest. The event was conducted under the patronage of Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed. A large number of NSS Volunteers participated in this plantation drive. Saplings of Cedrus deodara plants were donated by Prof. Rummy Dar HoD English and planted in the college campus by Col. Arul Thomas along with the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed to enrich the biodiversity and beautification of the campus.
After the inaugration of plantation drive Col. Arul Thomas gave a highly knowledgeable and motivational lecture to volunteers to upgrade the environment and to inculcate the leadership qualities among them by extending services for the betterment of the society and generation to come with conserving the environmental resources such as forest, water etc and also enlightened them regarding importance of plantation.
Mr. Imran Khan President Press Club Thannamandi was also present and planted a sapling along with Principal and NSS Programme Officer. On the occasion Capt. Amber Garg of 48RR, Prof. Rummy Dar, Prof Tahir Namdeem were also present. The programme was Coordinated by Prof. Muhammad Shoket NSS Programme Officer.
