JAMMU, Jan 18: YUVTARANG 2022-23 the mega Cultural Literary Contest to commemorate 75 years of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized by the Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu under the patronage of Vice Chancellor, CLUJ commenced today at 03 Constituent Colleges of CLUJ, GGM Science College, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce and Govt. College of Education witnessing a massive and vibrant participation of students of Constituent Colleges and PG Schools.
The opening day started with the Literary Segment "Saahityam" -Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Debate Contests at GGM Science College and Quiz Competition at SPMR College of Commerce followed by Creative and Fine Arts Segment "SANRACHNA" at GCOE with three events which included Rangoli, Poster Making and Collage Making Competitions. About 150 students from all the Constituent Colleges and PG Schools participated in the events.
Dr. Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, CLUJ graced the Prize Distribution ceremony as Chief Guest on the first day of literary activities "SAAHITYAM" along with Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College Dr. Ekta Gupta Principal, GCOE & Dr. Surinder Sharma, Principal, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce to boost the morale of participating students. Dr. Jatinder Khajuria congratulated the participating students and assured unyielding support in the future events. He exhorted that YUVTARANG is a rich platform for our young learners to display their creative and hidden talent from where they could bring laurels to the University at National and International festivals. The Principals of Constituent Colleges appreciated the strenuous efforts of students and faculty in making the event a success and also exhorted the students to exhibit their full potential which shall go a long way in grooming their multiple skills.
Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare highlighted the essence of the contest which shall be showcasing the multiple talents of the young learners in diverse arenas. She also briefed the Schedule of Yuvtarang that spreads into three categories: Saahityam (Literati) Sanrachna (Creative and Fine Arts) and Kalanjali (Performing Arts) in which 25 events are being hosted at all the Constituent Colleges of the University from 18th -24th January,2023.
The opening day started with the Literary Segment -Saahityam of Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Debate wherein students from all the Constituent Colleges and PG Schools made eloquent presentations in different languages with full zeal and vigour. The Literary segment also comprised of Quiz Contest which was spread into Preliminary and Final Rounds with each team comprising of 03 students representing their respective Institutions.
The jury comprised of eminent academicians- Prof. M.A Wani (Retd., Dept of Urdu, JU), Dr. Sudhir singh (Joint Secretary, JKBOSE), Prof. Bindu Chib (Associate Professor, Hindi) for Literary Activities, Dr. Ashwin Kushwaha (Dept. of Library Sciences, JU) as Quiz Master, Dr. Ritu Magotra and Dr. Shalini Sharma (Associate Professors, GCW Parade) and Amarjeet Singh (IMFA) for Fine Arts.
Dr. Banpreet Kour and Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma, Associate Deans, Students Welfare along with Dr. Kuldeep Raina and Dr. Revika Arora, Cultural Coordinators, Dr. Maansi Sharma, Dr. Reeta Menia, Dr. Sushma Sharma, Dr. Javaid Iqbal, Prof. Mohd. Ashraf, Assistant Deans, Students Welfare, CLUJ coordinated the events with the Conveners of Cultural Committees of Constituent Colleges & PG Schools. Deans of various faculties and faculty from Constituent Colleges and PG Schools also graced the event.
In Elocution, Manya sharma, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts bagged Ist position, Sania, MAM College secured 2nd position and Mehak Sharma, GCW Gandhi Nagar secured 3rd position.
In Poetry Recitation, Mansha Akhter, GCW Gandhi Nagar secured Ist position, Saquib Farooq and Shahid Iqbal, MAM College secured 2nd and 3rd position.
In Debate, Haspreet Kour, GCW Gandhi Nagar secure Ist position, Janvi Kour, SPMR College of Commerce bagged 2nd position and Umar Ayab, MAM College secured 3rd position.
In Quiz, Aksher Goswami, Aditay Bhardwaj, Amanpreet Singh, MAM College bagged Ist position, Karan Kumar, Anil kumar Sharma, Jagmeet Singh, GGM Science College secured 2nd position and Jiya, Shakshi, Kaamna, GCW Gandhi Nagar secured 3rd position.
In Rangoli, Ayushi Bhardwaj, School of Sciences bagged Ist position, Nitika Sharma, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts secured 2nd position and Sakshi, School of Teacher Education secured 3rd position.
In Poster Making , Komal Sharma and Arushi Sharma, GCOE bagged Ist and 2nd positions and Sukhleen Kour, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts secured 3rd position.
In Collage Shallu Khajuria, GCOE bagged Ist position, Navnidhan Kour, GCW Gandhi Nagar secured 2nd position and Seerat, GGM Science College secured 3rd position.
