What’s cooking up? Omar, Mehbooba camp in metro cities

EArly Times Report

Jammu, Feb 10: Amid uncertainty about elections in Jammu and Kashmir, two of the former Chief Ministers, including Peoples Democratic Party, chief, Mehbooba Mufti and her counterpart from the National Conference, Omar Abdullah are camping outside J&K for the last few days.
While Mehbooba has been camping in New Delhi for over a week, Omar Abdullah flew to Chennai from where he is likely to travel to the national capital.
As for Mehbooba she has been using her trip to Delhi to “gain political mileage.” Apart from holding a press conference against the ongoing eviction drive in Jammu and Kashmir, she also led a protest rally towards the Parliament when she was detained by the Delhi Police. Both the events took place in Delhi within days.
Sources said her visit to the national capital was a “family affair but that she has been getting in touch with politicians on the national arena.”
“Several deliberations have been held in the last few days most of the leading politicians are in Delhi given the ongoing Budget session of the Parliament,” said a source.
Observers said Mehbooba Mufti wanted to “cash her visit to its fullest.” “One press conference and one protest march towards Parliament. What more can you expect from one visit,” said an observer. Some of the other PDP leaders are also camping in New Delhi to assist the party president.
Sources said Omar on the other hand flew to Chennai to attend a conclave wherefrom he is also flying to Delhi. Sources said Omar would also “hold strategic interactions” in the same national capital where Mehbooba is also camping.
Sources said some of the close aides of Omar would “help him during his visit to the national capital.”
Interestingly, both Omar and Mehbooba held press conference about the ongoing eviction drive in Jammu and Kashmir on the same day within a gap of two hours.
Despite repeated attempts both Omar and Mehbooba couldn’t be contacted for comments.
