KISHTWAR, Feb 13: In pursuance to the National Calendar and under directions of J and K Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was organized here by the District Legal Services Authority under the supervision and guidance of Chairman DLSA, Surjeet Singh Bali. The National Lok Adalat took up Criminal Compoundable cases, Matrimonial and Maintenance cases, Cheque Bounce, Civil, Recovery, labour, PUS Matters, MACT- Litigation and Pre-Litigation cases and other cases were taken up before two benches were constituted for the said purpose.
The first Bench consisted of Surjeet Singh Bali , Principal District and Sessions Judge Kishtwar and Mahmud Anwar Al-Nasir, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar.
The Second bench consisted of Kartar Singh, Munsiff/JMIC Kishtwar and Syed Arif Hussain, Advocate.
A total of 449 cases were taken up out of which 227 cases of different nature mentioned supra were settled by amicable settlement in presence of parties. The total settlement of Rs 54,15,971 has been settled in bank recovery, money recovery & MACT Cases with the efforts of the presiding officers of courts, Bar members of the respective courts and representatives of banks and insurance companies.
Fine of Rs 67,800 was also recovered. Judicial officers, members of Bar, revenue officers, bank managers of various banks, representatives of various insurance companies, officers of PDD, parties of the cases and people in large numbers participated in the National Lok Adalat. |
