3/2/2023 10:49:00 PM
Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Mar 2: District Development Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, conducted a comprehensive review of the cooperative sector in Rajouri today and directed officials to take action to revive the cooperative societies in the district.
The Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives Society explained that cooperative societies are voluntary associations of individuals, usually formed by farmers or other groups in rural areas, to promote their economic interests. Regular audits are conducted to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the cooperative society and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. It is also essential to collect data on the Performance Audit Committees (PACs) associated with the societies, responsible for overseeing financial transactions in a transparent and accountable manner, for officials to evaluate their performance and pinpoint areas for improvement.
During the review meeting, DDC Vikas Kundal expressed his concern about the declining number of cooperative societies in the district and emphasized the importance of reviving them for the benefit of farmers and other stakeholders. He directed officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of the existing cooperative societies and identify the reasons for their decline. Furthermore, the DDC instructed officials to devise a comprehensive plan to revive these societies and make them more functional and effective. In his statement, DDC Kundal highlighted the crucial role that cooperative societies play in the development of the rural economy. He stressed the need to identify the challenges faced by these societies and to come up with effective solutions to address them. This directive from the DDC to officials to work towards the revival of cooperative societies is a major step towards improving the economic conditions of the rural population in Rajouri. It is a testament to the DDC’s commitment to the development of the district and his dedication to the welfare of the farmers and other stakeholders.
DDC Kundal also urged officials to encourage more people to join cooperative societies and take advantage of the benefits they offer. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the functioning of these societies so that the rural population can reap the full benefits of their membership.
