DM, SSP review law & order situation in Doda

DODA, Mar 6: A meeting of Magistrates and Police officers was held here today to review the law and order situation in the district. The meeting was chaired by District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Abdul Qayoom. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, Dr Ravi Kumar Bhartil; ADC Bhaderwah, Chowdhary Dil Mir; ASP Bhadarwah, Kameshwer Puri; ASP Headquarter Doda, Shakeel Bhat; ACR, Sanjeev Kumar; SDMs; SDPOs; Tehsildars; Dy.SPs; and other concerned officers and officials. The officers of civil and police administration gave detailed feedback to the DM and SSP about the basic concerns of the people in their respective jurisdictions. The meeting held threadbare discussion on various issues with regard to the security measures and decided to formulate an action plan to maintain peace in the district. Retrieval of government land, illegally occupied by encroachers was also discussed and the stakeholder departments were asked to ensure the maintenance of the possession of the retrieved land. Measures to fight drug menace, prevention of bovine smuggling and maintaining communal harmony and peace in the district were discussed in detail. Keeping a close check on illegal constructions, illegal mining, and intensifying anti encroachment drives was also stressed upon. The DM instructed to seize the vehicles used in the illegal activities, keep track of history sheeters and initiate strict action against violators of restrictions imposed under Section 144 Cr.PC and other sections by the authorities. The Magistrates were asked to check the schools, health institutions, and other offices and take action against malpractices in exams, absenteeism, and corrupt practices. He ordered for registration of beggars/ donations collectors, sadhus from outside the district. He further directed to get the complete details of tenants, domestic helpers and other Outsiders residing in the district. The DM informed that a mega Youth Festival 'Youthon' would be held on March 18, 2023. He asked the officers to ensure the dissemination of information among youth for greater participation. The SSP stressed on addressing and keeping an eye on the small social and other kinds of issues to avoid law and order situations. He laid emphasis on maintaining close coordination between police and civil administration for eradicating social evils and efficient tackling of law and order situation, including drug addiction/ trafficking in the district.
