Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 7: MJR-47 (Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from POJK - DPs) conveys its gratitude to the LG UTJK for the announcements of regularization of colonies of POJK DPs and highly appreciate the construction of Samriti Bhawan in the memory of POJK martyrs to preserve and promote the culture/ tradition of displaced families. We are highly indebted to the Central as well as JK UT Govt for analysing/ acknowledging the plight of POJK DPs and having concern for preservation and promotion of culture and traditions of families of such DPs.
While the LG made these announcements for POJK DPs, it was expected that the recommendations of parliamentary panel on Home Affairs will be announced and address the issues of (a) full monetary package of 30 lakhs, b) Grant of Proprietary Rights of the agriculture land , c) Grant of Political Representation in Assembly and Parliament, d) Grant of reservation for wards of DPs in education in technical / medical colleges / universities all over the country , as being granted for Valley Migrants since 2006, e) Grant of Special Employment package for educated unemployed youth of DP families, f) Inclusion of POJK DPs in Pahari Reservation with ST status on the basis of having distinct culture, ethnic and linguistic identity with Pahari speaking language for the objective of preservation and promotion of culture and traditions of families of such DPs, g) Also institution of a Board for POJK DPs so that better coordination between POJK DPs and Govt could be created and I.Cards be issued to all descendants of 1947 POJK DPs families to avoid repeated requirement of identification proof for DPs. The POJK DPs will be instrumental in retrieval of POJK area and will stand with the government at all stages as done in 1947 to save the state by giving supreme sacrifices. Hope all these demands will be fulfilled to give justice to POJK DPs suffering for more than 75 years.
