Promote renewable energy sources for income: MP Khatana

POONCH, Mar 12: MP Rajya Sabha Er. Gulam Ali Khatana took a detailed review of all the development and routine activities of various departments here in the presence of Deputy Commissioner poonch , Inder Jeet, JKAS, SSP Poonch, Rohit Baskotra, JKPS and all district and sectoral officers.
Reviewing the status of various works of Jal Shakti department here on Saturday, MP Gulam Ali enquired about the status of various central and UT sector schemes like JJM and instructed the concerned officers to ensure universal coverage of schemes. Revival of traditional water bodies like Bawalis , Kools should be explored, he further added.
MP Khatana impressed upon the concerned department including NDRF to take necessary steps to avoid loss of life and property.
He specifically impressed upon XEN, JKPDCL and other concerned officers to explore renewable energy resources in the district like solar, wind , waste to energy , small hydroelectric projects as the sector has huge potential for employment generation and for augmenting income for farmers as surplus electricity can be sold to DISCOMS.
MP instructed RDD officials to ensure zero inclusion/exclusion errors while disbursing flagship schemes like PMAY, MNREGA.
Reviewing education and medical department, MP sought a detailed report regarding overstayed employees and put up a perspective plan regarding sanitation around schools and hospital/ primary health centres.
Morever, he instructed all the department to ensure online delivery of eligible services especially revenue,health, banking ,insurance etc.
Taking stock of employment generation and counselling schemes, Khatana stressed on the need to develop technical and soft skills to promote startup and self employment culture through regular programmes of allied departments like Tejaswini. Promotion of sport's infrastructure can play a significant role in overall development of youth restricting them to more productive activities, which can significantly reduce drug demand, he added.
MP while taking stock of agriculture and allied sectors conveyed the officers to make the sector more attractive to youth by introducing innovations and latest machinery in the sector. Awareness regarding schemes, insurance coverage of livestock ,one district one product shall be given top priority.
While reviewing bank and labour departments, he checked the status of various schemes like MUDRA,standup start up. He ordered a detailed survey of Child labour in the district between the age of 6-14 years.
MP Er. Gulam Ali advised all district and sectoral officers to adopt an empathic approach towards unprivileged sections while performing their duties and ensure development of last and to the last mile.
In the early hours , he also took a tour of District hospital poonch where he listened to the patients and issued several instructions on spot to the CMO poonch. He further asked for augmenting the hospital infrastructure and strengthening emergency care services.
MP Khatana also met various public delegations and members of civil society, listened to their grievances and assured their timely redressal.
