Drunkard Teacher
3/13/2023 11:33:59 PM
Residents of Chanti village in Doda district recently locked down a government school after they found a teacher in an inebriated condition during working hours.
It’s unfortunate that a teacher who is a role model for his students was found drunk inside the school premises. The Education Department has ordered a probe and police also have taken cognizance of the matter. If he is found guilty he should be given an exemplary punishment so that it serves as a deterrent for others.
The accused teacher in an inebriated condition, created a ruckus on being confronted by the villagers. Bottles of alcohol were recovered from the teacher. And the villagers alleged that it was not for the first time the accused teacher had done this. He had done it several times in the past and has also been warned by the Education Department.
Teachers are nation builders as the parents repose their trust on them with a hope that their children will learn good things from them. They want their children to follow the footsteps of their teachers so that they become responsible citizens and achieve their goals.
One black sheep has put the reputation of the entire teaching fraternity at stake. Teacher is an epitome of trust. He has to play an exemplary role in the lives of students and make them understand what’s good and what’s bad. If a teacher indulges in an immoral act, he cannot be forgiven as he is the custodian of future generations.
One teacher acting in an erratic manner doesn’t mean that all teachers sail in the same boat. Teachers despite facing all odds have worked hard to deliver and build the lives of students. They are the ones who have made engineers, doctors and scientists. They have served in the inaccessible areas and have ensured that children from weaker sections of the society don’t remain deprived of their right to education.
Teachers deserve all the appreciation for the role they have played in building the nation. One drunkard teacher cannot set a benchmark for measuring the sincerity of all the teachers. The government needs to act tough against a few who don’t understand their responsibilities and behave like ruffians.
