Agricultural Officers from MP visit Krishi Vigyan Kendra

REASI, Mar 14: Agricultural Officers from State Agriculture Department, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh visited here at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) .The officers visited KVK instructional farm, demonstration units such as hydroponics unit, District Agrometrological Unit (DAMU), Polyhouse Unit, Natural Farming Model Unit, Mushroom Unit, Vermicompost/Vermibed Units, crop cafeteria etc. and interacted with the KVK scientists about the various agricultural innovations and operations of the various units established at KVK, Reasi. During the visit, the officers had a healthy interaction with the scientists of KVK, Reasi and discussed the on-campus and off-campus activities of KVK. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Reasi while welcoming the visiting team gave a detailed view about how KVK is working tirelessly for the benefits of hilly areas farmers of Reasi and Udhampur district of J&K. He apprised the officers about the technical support provided by KVK, Reasi on commercial organic farming, natural farming, lemon grass farming, commercial floriculture, value addition in agriculture, poultry farming etc. to the farmers to enhance their income and employment. He shared efficient and innovative strategies of KVK, Reasi to enhance the income and employment among the farmers. He laid emphasis upon the dissemination of new technologies to the farmers to enhance their livelihood sources. Dr.Lalit Upadhyay spoke on promotion of medicinal and aromatic plants in monkeys affected areas of the district. Dr.Lobzang Stanzen spoke on Automatic Weather Station (AWS) established at KVK, Reasi and discussed on the timely agro advisories to the farmers of the district. The visiting officers appreciated the endevours of KVK, Reasi for the welfare of the farming community. The visiting officers applauded the strenuous efforts of KVK, Reasi for disseminating the agricultural innovations to the farmers. During the programme an exhibition depicting various technologies was also arranged for the visiting officers. The programme was concluded by Preeti Chaudhary with formal vote of thanks.
