Namrta slams Admin for dismal power scenario in Jammu
3/19/2023 10:55:13 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 19: Namrta Sharma, President Women Wing of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir has raised serious concern over the highly deplorable condition of power scenario in urban areas of Jammu not to talk of the rural where the situation is all the more worse.
In this regard, the senior AAP leader has taken the matter with the Chief Engineer of Power Development Department and apprised him of the unscheduled power cuts. She said that people today feel highly irritated by the erratic and unscheduled long power cuts when summer is at the threshold with temperatures going abruptly up at its very onset. She said that it is an irony of the people of Jammu that they are being forced to live a miserable life amidst the worst power scenario.
Namrta Sharma lamented that despite the dismal power scenario and resentment among the people the Govt is arbitrarily going ahead with its plan to further increase the power tariff of consumers. She said that the Government takes crores of rupees in terms of tariff from the consumers but when it comes to providing the round-the-clock power supply, it is abdicating its responsibilities leaving the consumers high and dry. “It is appalling that instead of ensuring regular power supply during hot summer it is resorting to forced power cuts with unscheduled power cuts having grown severe and giving a tough time to the people of Jammu.
The AAP women wing President said that in the Budget 2023-24 for J&K the Govt claims to provide 24x7 Power supply in the UT while the situation on ground is quite contrary. The Govt has in fact cracked a cruel joke on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She said that the BJP government at the centre has in fact betrayed the people of Jammu on every aspect by promising the moon and delivering nothing.
